George Hastwell School

About

Welcome to George Hastwell School, we are a safe and creative learning community on the lovely Isle of Walney, where everyone achieves and is valued.

Our school vision

An enriching journey to individual success.

We fulfil this vision by:

  • Being a happy place where pupils feel safe to challenge themselves and develop their independence to their full potential.
  • Providing an individualised curriculum which follows pathways based on pupils' needs.
  • Treating pupils with respect, as individuals and with consistent support from staff they know they can trust.

GHS Values

At GHS, we want our pupils to reach their full potential. This includes supporting them to develop into positive members of our community and create an awareness of how to value themselves and value others. In order to achieve this, we have developed a values-based ethos.

Our Values:

  • Respect
  • Fairness
  • Kindness
  • Pride
  • Responsibility
  • Resilience

We endeavour to permeate these core values into every aspect of our school; underpinning our curriculum and our ethos. In doing this we aim to develop our pupils' understanding of their local communities and the wider community of Britain.

Britain is diverse in cultures, beliefs and ethnic backgrounds. We want our pupils to understand this and develop a greater level of respect for everyone they meet. We strive for our pupils to appreciate that difference and diversity can be a positive thing, and to respect and protect that belief.

Our school vision and values were developed with staff and pupils; this image was designed by them to reflect these.
