Puffin Class

About Puffin Class

Puffin class is a semi-formal engage class. We follow the semi-formal curriculum pathway with the main aim for pupils to engage in all sessions. These could be songs, stories, sensory activities, practical tasks or physical activities.

The daily timetable always begins with time for the pupils to regulate before they begin their learning. The pupils encounter massage, soft play and teeth brushing on a daily basis, as well as Attention Autism, fine motor skills and phonics.

We have a clear structure to the day with marker music, symbols and now and next to guide us through our routine.

Each half term we have a different story to base our learning around and allow for cross-curricular links, this leads to a wide variety of learning and experiences.

Our pupils are using a mix of Makaton, core boards, gesture and speech to communicate, we support this with a whole communication approach in Puffin class.

In the Puffin classroom you’ll hear lots of singing and plenty of laughter.
